Biography
Sunday, August 26, 2007 by Mrs. Roth-SotoJust who is Mrs. Roth-Soto? I consider myself native to the Santa Clara Valley, even though the truth is I moved here at age 11 from Maryland. I witnessed the transformation from agro-economy to the high tech industry. That gives me the right to claim some native status. I achieved my life dream and became a teacher in 1985. In addition to being CLAD (Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development) certificated, I hold both a Multiple Subject (elementary) credential and a Single Subject in English credential. I have taught a variety of subjects in a variety of places including being the reading specialist at a San Jose elementary school, the art and drama teacher at a Mt. View middle school, the GED (high school equivalency exam) teacher at an alternative high school, and the computer lab instructor at two different middle schools. I have also spent ten years of my career teaching eighth grade English and History. I am excited about teaching at Don Callejon. I believe that every child can achieve success, but it will require both teacher and student to work diligently. When I am not teaching, I can usually be found knitting or reading.
